Tech. Name: Fenobucarb 50% EC

Fenobucarb is a cholinesterase or acetylcholinesterase (AChE) inhibitor. Carbamates form unstable complexes with chlolinesterases by carbamoylation of the active sites of the enzymes. This inhibition is reversible.

Crops: Rice

Dosage/Hectare: 500-1500 ml

 

  • Appearance: A pale yellow or pale red liquid that is insoluble in water 
  • Mode of action: A contact poison with a relatively fast killing action and a moderately long residual action 
  • Toxicity: Low mammalian toxicity 
  • Safety: Non-phytotoxic to rice and harmless to beneficial predatory and pollination insects 
  • Other effects: Acute exposure to cholinesterase inhibitors can cause a cholinergic crisis characterized by severe nausea/vomiting, salivation, sweating, bradycardia, hypotension, collapse, and convulsions 
  • Poisoning symptoms in rodents: May cause symptoms of ataxia, salivation, lachrymation and decreased breathing
